Re: Production date for St Louis Built Vin 174000?
It a very late build, I would guess in June.
There are at least 2 ways to tell on a 69-72. First is the Blue vin decal on the drivers door, it shows the mounth and year. The other is the stamped code on the engine deck pad, first you have to check the block casting numbers to be sure its the original block, if this is so then check the pad on the front of the block on the pass side just below the head, there is a 8 digit code, the first digit is letters, the next 4 digits are numbers, the date code, Month and Day. Example... 0619 is June 19, My Dads Birthday. Other ways are the Waranty Book/Protecoplate, this sometimes lists the date it was put into service. Or check under the seat or behind the fuel tank for the Build Sheet. The last way I can think of is, if ever another board member post pics of their trucks spid and it was built at the same plant, in the same model year, and has a very close sequence number as yours, 74000 ask if they know when their truck was built. Let us know what you find DOES ANYONE ELSE KNOW OTHER WAYS? Last edited by burb71; 05-22-2010 at 03:22 PM. |
