Carb. placement questions

I scored a rebuilt Rochester for my pick up but I'm having issues with the fuel line hitting what I think is the Egr Valve(it comes out of the water neck)? I was wondering if maybe someone has run into this problem before and what they did to fix it. Pictures would be great. The carb I have on it right now, the fuel line come from the side. I hope I explained it good enough. Please help. Thanks

but it almost sounds like you have a ford qjet?.. i'd just bend the line so it doesn't hit anyhting.

The one I have on there now is similar to this with the fuel spout coming out toward the left.....

Of course I don't think either of those carbs are mine. I quess mine is electric. Any ideas? Thanks

the second on you posted is a ford carb... as for the electric?... no idea, never seen one


I'd just go rebuild a holley and slap it on...

your egr valve is that little flying saucer looking thing behind your choke.. what your describing sounds like a vacuum tree on the gooseneck

The picture of the second carb I know 100% is the quadrajet style used on Oldsmobiles.

So, you got the BOP version (with front fuel inlet) and you needed the chevy version(with side fuel inlet).

The obstruction is most likely a thermal vacuum switch on top of the water neck---will check my setup soon.

It would probably be best to post a picture. Re-working of the fuel lines may be nessesary.
