Tilt column help?

After taking a 1977 chevy van column apart and powdercoating the exterior and doing the neutral safety switch mods I rebuilt and installed it into my truck with no problems. My problem is that my shifter doesn't have any distinct gear positions. It just feels like the shifter is very smooth through the pattern instead of having a position for each gear. Any tips on whats going on in the column that I can fix?

Do you have the shift plate and lever spring installed correctly?

Not sure but, it will be the first place I check. Do you have to remove the column from the truck to get to that part of the assembly? It has been so long since I had it out I cant remember.

Re: Tilt column help?

Learned something new. I thought it was the transmission that gave it that clicky feel.
