Leaf spring swap

I know this might sound really dumb. i have a 86 k10, can i take the rear leaf spring out of it and put them up front, then put put k30 leaf springs in the rear.

Im just wondering if the springs will fit up front, and if it will lift the truck at all.

taking the rears springs and putting them up front is a popular swap. Lift depends on the springs, what shape they are in, how many leaves, etc. Also depends on the truck too. Big block, heavy bumper, winch, will make the front heavier causing the springs to settle more. It's not bolt in, but not hard. The front mounts will need to be moved forward, and will need longer shackles for the rear.

K30 springs might bolt in if your truck has 56" long springs. If they are 56" then they will bolt right in. If they are 52", the rear hanger will need to be moved back 4" to make up for the length.

There is a write-up in the tech articals section of ck5.com for the front swap your talking about. One thing I have read is mention of the front being almost too soft for street use, under hard braking there is alot of nose dive. I have not done the swap but it is talked about alot over there(ck5).
