Abandoned truck.....help me identify!
I found this truck sitting in a back road quite a few years ago and it hasn't moved in a while. It was last licensed in 2004. It is in very good condition and the body is almost laser straight. Can anyone tell me what year this is?
Sorry about the phone pics. Thanks |

Re: Abandoned truck.....help me identify!
the grill and wrap-around windshield suggest a 1963.

Re: Abandoned truck.....help me identify!
I'd say '63 also. I'm not too far away. Do you need me to come get it? Looks solid.

haha...Yea...Pretty sure it belongs to the people in the house in the background. I am thinking about knocking on the door with cash in hand and seeing what happens...

Re: Abandoned truck.....help me identify!
x3 - every external indication is it's a 1963, including the front fender emblems.

I will check that out and post pics... is a 63 the only year with the wrap around windshield and this specific grill?

Re: Abandoned truck.....help me identify!
The grille is unique to 1963. The windshield is common to 60-63.

Regardless of the year (which it is a '63), snatch it up, if you can!

Re: Abandoned truck.....help me identify!
Got it. Good info, thank you. I spend most of my time on this forum cruising the 67-72 area, so I need to freshen up on my other years. Also, I just bought a 1955 1st series pickup that had been in a barn in Valley, Washington for the last 20 years. I will get pics of that soon and start spending time in that area too!

Re: Abandoned truck.....help me identify!
That is a pretty nice looking '63. I wouldn't hesitate to start knocking on some doors to get the lowdown on it.

Re: Abandoned truck.....help me identify!
I noticed that... are those front bumper guards a factory option? Is that somewhat rare?

Re: Abandoned truck.....help me identify!
I will try to get some interior shots tomorrow. Besides air-conditioning vents, is there anything else I should be looking for? Any other options that I could see?

Re: Abandoned truck.....help me identify!
I just noticed, it appears the door check is broken on the drivers side, which may have caused the vertical dent a few inches back from the cowl extension. If you get access to the inside just make sure to hold on to the door so no further damage is inflicted.

Re: Abandoned truck.....help me identify!
That is a very straight and rust free Custom Cab '63.....I would be all over that given the chance.

Re: Abandoned truck.....help me identify!
When checking it out, look for these factory/dealer R.P.O.'s (regular production options):
power-assist steering power brakes air conditioning chrome dash knobs AM radio driver & passenger side arm rests driver & passenger side visors tachometer under-dash ash tray Signal-stat Flare-stat 105 emergency flashers under-seat jack, lug wrench & folding jack handle seat belts automatic (2-speed Powerglide...good/3-speed Turbo HydraMatic...really good) Houndstooth seat cover Deluxe-Air glove box emblem glove box lock reverse light switch on 4-speed floor shifter factory build sheet in seat back seat springs Owner's manual Protect-O-Plate Custom steering wheel & chrome horn ring assembly auxillary overload springs front sway bar rear sway bar underbed spare tire holder license plate bracket & light 4-core Harrison radiator These are a few of the desireable R.P.O.'s that will enhance the value of the truck. Good luck and let us know the outcome. |

I snapped some more pictures. Do these help reveal anything else of interest for this truck?

Re: Abandoned truck.....help me identify!
I see an antenna, which means it probably might still have the factory radio, also seems to still have the original paint, which is a very good thing...usually nothing hidden under original paint!!
looks like all it needs is rockers and door corners and some original (or anything besides the ones that are on it ) wheels.
