What is the widest front and rear tire i can go with on the stock steel rims

For tires with tall sidewalls like 85 series, you can go up to about 2-1/2 or 3 inches wider than the wheels. So assuming you have 5-1/2" wheels, which I believe was the stock width, that would be a 205 or 215 tire. For low profile tires, the maximum width for a given wheel is proportionately less as the sidewalls get shorter.
