Air compressor spewing oil
I have an older ingersol rand compressor. Just the other day I noticed an excess amount of oil blowing out of my cut off tool.
I checked at the regulator on the tank and that would spit oil when I opened the release valve. So I guess I'll have to replace the compressor. Any Ideas? Should I just replace the pump or the whole thing? Thanks, TW |

Re: Air compressor spewing oil
replace the pump// the hoses aren't any good now for spraying paint either, you'd never get all the oil out of them. but they'd b ok for using most air tools// the tank is a 50/50 thing depends how much oil is in it but it could b a problem in the future

Re: Air compressor spewing oil
so long as the tank is good. Theres no reason to not just replace the pump. You can get a better pump in the process and still be a ton cheaper than getting a new compressor. As said replace the lines and leave the tank drain open for as long as you can to get the oil out.

Re: Air compressor spewing oil
I checked a few prices for pumps on line and that is the least expensive route.
I guess I'll try that. Thanks for the advice. TW |

Re: Air compressor spewing oil
While your doing it just make sure you get the highest scfm rating you can find. That is the volume of air the pump produces. more volume= less run time and a larger variety of tools you can run. Paint sprayers are notorious for being air hogs as well as da sanders etc. The higher scfm rating makes all the difference in the world.
