am i going to need to run more than one battery
i am running a 140 amp one wire alt, air ride with 2 air zenith compressors, i plan on running the best battery i can get (i am assuming that is a Optima) my question is will i need more than one battery ??

That will all depend on how many electrical accessories you plan on running. 2 compressors, electric fans, headlights, a/c, ect can put a drain on a stock electrical system. Are you planning on a somewhat powerful audio system? The high powered alternator will definately be a plus. Im running one yellow top, and only have one air zenith compressor, but I have 3 electric fans, electric fuel pump, as well as all the stock stuff. Id like to run two batteries in the future, as it would really help, as well as I want to add an amp and sub to my truck.
My reccomendation on a battery would be a Kenetic instead of the Optima. Mines ok, but I have heard AWESOME things about the kenetics. check them out. http://www.kinetikaudio.com/2009/default.asp |

Colin is you airzenith an old one or one of the new ones ?? both of mine are the old ones, i have never ran them but i hear a lot of bad stuff about them.. any input on yours , have you ran it yet

Mine is the OB2 model, the new one. Ive been really happy with it. I have it on 2 3 gallon tanks, making 6 gallon total. Its faster with the single compressor than the two Viair 380s I had before on a single 5 gallon. Then again, that could just be because the 380s were a few years old and had been ran hard. But everything about it felt like a real quality piece, from the packaging to the actual compressor.
What made up my mind was a review by Doug DeHaven of DJD Labs. He is an engineer who has an interest in custom trucks, and has done alot of scientific testing of equipment for several companies. From what I understand, the owners of Air-Zenith brought him in to help redesign the compressor, and fix all of the issues with the old model. HE did a review of it when it came out, and after looking I found one he posted on an s-10 forum. My only complaint is that the relay burned up on me, but a new one easily fixed that issue. |
