factory tach question??

I have a factory tach for a V8. I am going to run a MSD ignition (6AL box) and a pro billet MSD distributor. Is there anything I need to do with my factory tach so everything operates properly?? Thanks guys!!

Re: factory tach question??

Others will probably chime in but my tach never worked correctly after I changed over to HEI. The reproduction tachs might be compatable with electronic ignition.

Re: factory tach question??

I agree completely. On GM vehicles that offered optional electronic ignition (before HEI became standard), the factory tachs always had different part numbers for points and electronic.

Sometmes the aftermarket ignition suppliers can offer a fix for the tach problem. I would ask MSD before trying anything else.

Re: factory tach question??

These old factory tachs will not read close to correct no matter what you hook them up to.
