Box Swap questions

hey everybody
i have a question concerning the box of my 68 C10. its rotted out pretty bad. at least 75% of it was bondo. i bought a box off of a 78 and was wondering if they would interchange or i would i have to make new holes to make it fit. any kind of help would very much be appreciated.

Re: Box Swap questions

Is this a stepside? It's not a bad job if you use the fenders that come with the box. However, if you want to keep the 67-72 fenders so it "looks" stock, then you are in for some work. Look at the filler panel between the fender and the cab.

Re: Box Swap questions

are we talking a stepside bed, or fleetside.

If it is a fleetside, it would look bad. It would be functional, but look bad. I sispect it would go in though. Holes are easy enough to drill in the bed floor.

Re: Box Swap questions

There was a pic a while back on here of a square body bed on one of these trucks. Looked pretty bad but it seemed to fit.

Re: Box Swap questions

Got pictures of how bad the box is? There is a decent box that needs a little bit of work about an hour north of you here in binghamton. If you have interest in it, let me know soon, cause I will be going this weekend to start cutting patch panels out for my blazer.

Re: Box Swap questions

Well, first, I am getting this truck and probably parting it out. The bed could be for sale, or the whole truck too, although the cab is shot. The box has rust, but it not completely shot at this point.

And this is the other one, which is in the junkyard here. There is some floor rust near the back and the driver's side wheel tub, a little over the wheel well, and some on the bed side mating lip with the floor. The rear crossmembers also have a little rust, but the fronts are great, which is what I was going to get:

Re: Box Swap questions

There are plenty of long beds your year, since everyone is chopping down to shortbeds. I think you could find the right year bed pretty easy. They're all over here in CA.
