Re: 1968 gmc v6
I have some question
1) is it a 305E or a 351E or 351M 2) does it have a spin on oil filter 3) did it have a manual trans or a automatic behind it 4) does it come with any bracket 5) can you post pics

Re: 1968 gmc v6
I think its a 305E and it had a automatic trans. its at the shop so I'll check about the oil filter tommmorrow and get some pics and it does have all the brackets with it.

Re: 1968 gmc v6
Just wondering, how does one know the difference between the 305 and 351? I have one in a 67 GMC and would like to know how to tell what I have. Thanks for any information anyone may have. Dave

Yes the motor runs good. Checked compression and every cylinder was 160 and yes it has a 465 4 speed trans on the motor. We live in Magalia with is just abit up the hill from Paradise. Give me a call (530)873-4361

Re: 1968 gmc v6
daves71k5,
Engine size is stamped on the top of the block just forward of the passenger side head followed by the serial number. It should say either 305E or 351E. Bob
