1986 chevy swb 4x4

I started my first chevy truck build a few months ago and figured i would share my progress. It started out as a 1986 chevy swb with a 350/350/203 combination in it which is whats in it now just a different tranny and t case since both the ones it came with were junk. This is what it looked like when i got it.

since then i fixed all the rust on the cab, replaced tranny and transfer case, painted the frame rails, replaced brakes all the way around, removed the rusted up bed and replaced with a flat bed and rear tube bumper, and installed 3 inch body lift and a superlift 8inch suspension lift, along with many other odds and ends. this is what it looks like now tell me what you think.

looks like a nice build. Wonder if it was a cab swap. The original drive train that it came with sounds like your standered 73-80 setup. What you running for axles? Little big for my taste but I really dig the flat bed. Keep up the good work!

Re: 1986 chevy swb 4x4

The previous owner swapped the tranny and transfercase. You could tell because there wasnt a tight bolt anywhere and they tried to use the original drive shaft which would have been for the np208 so it wasnt even a slip style drive shaft. They just unbolted the yoke from the back of the 203 and jammed the drive shaft into the splines which actually are the same but was never gonna work. Anyway the good thing was when they got it together the tranny didnt work so it never moved that way. Everything they did was scarry like that, i only found one tight bell housing bolt lol. Oh the axles are just stock half ton axles both corp 10 bolts. Already looking for a set of 1 tons though. Im thinking 4.88 gears, lockers front and back, and a set of 39.5 inch iroks or 40 inch ground hawgs cant really decide which tires, tell me what you think.
