Timing Marks for '87 305

Two questions here actually ...
I was trying to locate the timing marker plate on my 305
and all i could find was a raised line about two inches long
that seems to be part of the engine block casting.

But there is no obvious marks or a plate that would give
me an indication of how many degrees off TDC i might be.

I put a timing light on it but the marks on the harmonic balancer
wheel didn't match up to the mark on the engine block.

I seriously doubt the timing is that far off TDC if in fact the line
on the block is the TDC Timing Marker Indicator.

Am i missing the Timing Plate ?

Also ... I was unable to locate the TAN w- Black Striped wire that
i need to disconnect to time it correctly.
Not sure i am looking in the correct place for it.

Thanks !

The timing tab on my '85 is behind the water pump. You have to practically crawl on top of the engine to see it.
