6" rear drop and 20's?
Am I going to be able to use my 295/45-20 rear tires with a 6" flip kit? I kind of mocked it up yesterday and it sure looks close. Anyone running this??

Re: 6" rear drop and 20's?
a 265-70-15 is really close to a 295-45-20.
i ran a 265-70 on stock rallys on the rear of a few of my 88-98 trucks, they had around 8in of drop. i had to trim the fender lip on the bed so they wouldnt rub. i would say the tire itself will be fine but the desiding factor will be the backspacing on your wheels. |

Re: 6" rear drop and 20's?
Wheel info would be helpful wouldn't it. They are Boss 338s, 20x10 with 6.225 backspacing. I don't mind doing some trimming if needed.

Re: 6" rear drop and 20's?
That's a tall and wide tire, but it should be ok if you trim/roll your fender lips.
I've got 20x10s with only 6" of backspacing. Granted my 285/30 tires aren't quite as tall or as wide, but the extra little bit of space your backspacing gives you, you should be able to make it work with only 6" of drop. |

i got the same wheels but i have 275/45 and i am putting a flip kit in this weekend, all i'm gonna do is roll the fenders. i think thats all you will have to do too it. I will post some pictures and see how much clearance there is unless your doing it this weekend too?

Re: 6" rear drop and 20's?
Wow, does everyone got these rims? I was supposed to get mine two weeks ago but they screwed up the order. It's a relief to know that they shall fit
Did you get the 20x8.5's up front?

I don't think I thought through my tire choices enough. Not really happy with the fronts either. Too low profile. Hopefully they will work out.

Re: 6" rear drop and 20's?
What size of tire do you have on the front? Any amount of drop?

Re: 6" rear drop and 20's?
45 series seems like a pretty big tire for a 6" drop, I don't know though.
Persoanlly the most I'd go is a 40 series. |

Re: 6" rear drop and 20's?
I ran a 295/35/18 on a 10" rim on the rear w/ 6" backspace and a 7" drop on my old '92 xcab 1500 and it fit fine - but i did roll the fender lip up just to be sure. That 295/45/20 is like what, 28" tall? My 295/35/18's where around 26.5" tall, but I was running an inch more drop. I think they'll fit, but I would roll the fender lip up to get every bit of extra clearance I could.

255/35-20. About 4.5 inch drop.

Re: 6" rear drop and 20's?
Up front I've got a five inch drop and plan on doing some 255/40-20's. How much room is there for you? I'm considering going to a slightly smaller tire, most likely a 255/35. On the rear I was planning on having 255/40 with the 20x10's, which I believe will fit.

Re: 6" rear drop and 20's?
255/40-20 is what I wanted for the front but wasn't available in the tires I was looking at that also had 295/45-20s. The 235s are really low profile which is why I'm not really happy with them as I drive the truck every day. The 235s should have some room with my drop and rolled fenders. The 255s on 10in wheels may look a little stretched. Have you checked the width of the tire? I swear figuring out wheel/tires is hard without them in front of you to try!

Re: 6" rear drop and 20's?
The tires I plan on purchasing should go on a 8.5`- 10`wide rim. So they should just barely fit on both

Re: 6" rear drop and 20's?
I would of got about the same, but I live in Canada. By the time you factor in duties and all that garbage, I'll have paid about $1100 or slightly more
![]() Quick question - When you say they fit great, did you use a spacer or dent the dust cap or anything at all? Thank you!

Re: 6" rear drop and 20's?
I have a 4.5 drop on my dads silverado with 20x10 and 295 45 20 and we loaded up the back of the truck so it was bottomed out pretty much on the frame with cement bags and measured everything and it cleared fine. Boss 338 wheels.

Re: 6" rear drop and 20's?
I'm going for it and dropping the rear. It sounds like it will work. Hopefully next week I can get it done.
Now for a decision on the front tires. Hmmm. Not much choice without buying a whole new set. Thanks for everyone's help!

Re: 6" rear drop and 20's?
i'll post pictures tomorrow but i did the flip kit(waiting to put a bigger notch then the bolt in one) but the back doesn't rub anywhere close with my 275/45 only problem is the frame and rear end. the front is probably 4-5 drop it rubs not much though with 255/45 just rolled the fender and good to go
