Finally can start
well im fairly new to this site ive been doing research and tracking down parts for 1971 k5 cst blazer. I bought it in november and got the motor running then was kicked out of my dads shop lol. my family farms in sout jersey and im only junior in high school. my budget is limited but starting work for the summer so i rented the end bay of an old machinery shed (closed off shop just dirty and old) from a family member. I hauled the blazer over there last night and plan on working on it every nite and getting some good progress. Im not gonna completely restore it but want it looking nice. plan on some nice size swampers and taking it on the trails/mud on the weekends. Deffinently will be driving it to my senior prom! I love my blazer

I'm going to try and see about getting my tub unbolted here shortly too. Always exciting to be making progress.

Re: Finally can start
I attempted to lift the tub off by hand with no success. How have you guys lifted your tubs off? Also im thinking of going from a manual transmission to automatic any input?

Re: Finally can start
Wow, I'm 6'5" 270, and wouldn't have even considered trying to lift a tub by hand. Does that make me a lazy bum?
I'd look into an engine hoist slid in under the rear end, or a tractor with a bucket, or a come-along tied to the rafters, if they are well braced...

Re: Finally can start
Lifted my tub off the frame with some help from friends - 8-10 should do it. We had 3-4 per side (doors, top, front clip, tailgate, interior were removed), 1 person to roll the frame out and 1 person to roll the body dolly I made under the tub. Really wasn't that hard. Most difficult part was getting all the body/frame connection undone.

Re: Finally can start
Yea i will be using a forklift or something along those lines to lift the tub off. Another question is there someone that sells the roll cages that go on these blazers or are they all custom made? Im talking about the ones that run all the way front to back
