Raising bed
For those of you who lifted your beds instead of cutting them to fit a bridge do you have any pictures? And how did you secure them to the bedsides and frame?

I am kind of confused looking at the pictures did you just cut the existing flange off and move it up 4 inches? How did you rework the wheel well?

cut 4 1/2 inches out of the complete side and raised it up and welded it back together

I did the same thing, but took 6 1/2 inches out. Here's some during and after pics that might help you out.

Sure, but that one will just be taking a 6 1/2" slice out of the middle and welding the top and bottom back together. It probably won't be for a couple of weeks though, I'm in the middle of swapping the drivetrain from one frame to the other.

Mine is a step and I just pulled the bed mounting bolts out of the floor, got some big washers and put one one on 4 of the bolts, got 4 straps and put the 4 bolts through the eye of the 4 separate straps, then inserted the bolts and straps to the center 4 holes (of 8) in the bed (2 each side) and a nut on the bottom side of each to hold it. Then just gather the 4 straps and attach to your engine hoist via the hook and lift.

On a step, I would just raise the angle iron up and reweld it to the sides. For the front, you could just section the front bed wall, just like I am going to do to my fleet bed. I think it would be much easier on a step-side.

Harbor Freight has them the cheapest. They are not listed online, but they have them in the store. Eastwood and a few other places have them also, but they are more expensive. I'll get a pic of the un-opened pack I have when I get home from work, so you know what you are looking for.

I raised the whole rear section of the frame up, as seen in the pic. So my floor is sitting on the frame the way it normally would, except for the forward-most mount. I still haven't decided what I'm going to do for that mount. I did cut around the wheelwell opening so that I would still be able to bolt the tub in like factory. How much are you going to be raising the floor?

Enough to clear an 8" notch so I don't know how much that would be I have to get under there and measure, I would think no more then 4-4 1/2 inches. i don't want to cut the frame so I will probaly use square tubing spacers to mount the bed to.

here's my writeup on a stepside bed floor lift. I will have to modify it a bit this winter when I weld up a deeper rear notch, but it works great and can carry fairly heavy payloads.
