So all four corners of the frame cross supports are shot, there are 3 bad spots on the floor, and all of this looked good until I tried to clean it up with a wire wheel. I couldn't believe how it just kept flaking away until it was a hold in so many places. Has anyone put in the one piece floor that is sold through a few of the vendors? I tried a search but couldn't find any posts on someone doing one. I am a beginner with my little mig/arc welder, so I am thinking for this job I am going to have to have one of those mobile welding people come out to my shop.

Also, since I am replacing the whole floor I wont need inner rockers right? Just the outer set and the cab corners?

I would say yes if I wasn't concerned that the rest of the floor is now way to thin on account of all the rust wire wheeled away. I just don't trust it any more.

take a gander at my build thread on my signature.. my truck was my first project ever i started it in november of 2008 and here i am now with it almost finished.. dropping in a $100 here and $100 there whenever i have time to work on it.. i dont mean to brag but it highschool i was a decent welder on thicker stuff then i get to sheetmetal and it was a different story.. practice makes perfect tho.. if you have the time and patience then u will be just fine.. if you rush and expect it done in a hurry is when it will hurt ya.. i replaced a bunch of metal on my truck and got pics if ya wanna check them out.. oldblue1968chevy checked them out im sure

I like the idea of adding a build thread to your sig, so I added mine. As you can see, I haven't touched my truck in a while. My wife was pregnant with twins and they ended up being born 3 months early, so they have taken up lots of our time. I just started working on the truck again this week (I had off). I hope to add some updates to the thread after I take some pictures today.

If you look close, I never show my raw welding work, I hate the way it looks, so not like a pro. I have done some, but I don't want to ruin a 400 dollar floor pan by me screwing up.

i know what your saying but if you get some sheetmetal scraps and then you can practice your seam welds.. thats what we did in highschool we had metal donated to us and thats all we did was spot welds, t-welds, overlap welds, fillet welds, overhead welds, horizontal welds, vertical welds,.. and practice made perfect but i see what your saying about the 400 dollar piece.. dont think im sayin this thing as a jerk move or what not not.. but the grinder is your best friend.. and since its metal you can always replace it if you burn threw with the welder.. ya know?

I cant remember the names, but there are at least two build threads with floor installs. One of them is by earl who does the cd's for bodywork.

Just realized he is only in Concord, that is just over 3 hours away. Maybe I can have him come and weld in the floor, corners, and rockers. LOL I probably can't afford him, he does very "show" looking work, I just need "farm truck" or what I like to call "10/10" work, 10 feet, at 10 mph, it looks real nice.

The floors have the inner rockers.
It is a lot of work. You may be better off to find a new cab if its a work truck since you have to take the cab off anyway. You can do any repairs to it first then switch. We can sell you a new floor but I would consider doing the swap first
