Fender Mounting

Hey, gang,
Is there anything that goes between the fender and the inner fender on that lip where they mate up and bolt together? Not at the firewall, but the length of the fender front to rear.
I got a full cab rubber kit, and some of the items were bagged but not marked,(shame on you, parts packer person) so I have to match them up with what I remove. But I didn't have fenders when I got the truck, so I was hoping someone could enlighten me.

Thanks,

Thanks,
The front fenders do have some "soft-goods" on them. On the inside rear fender back brace, there is a rubber closure strip, that runs vertically and is stapled to the metal extension. This can be seen in the first photo.

Also, there is an infill piece at the top of the fender, where it bridges from the front of the firewall to the fresh air cavity, that has a piece of rubber stapled to it.

I have also noticed, during disassembly, seam sealer where the front fender nose meets the grille support, but none along the top, horizontal edge of the front fender, where it attaches to the inner fender.

I hope this information is helpful. Have a great weekend.

Re: Fender Mounting

Thanks Tony. I didn't know about the seam sealer, but that makes sense. I have the pieces for the back of the fender, just needed to know about that long seam befor I went together with it.

Re: Fender Mounting

Yea, that's some good stuff there. Clears up a couple others things too. Like I think I'm missing some parts. Guess I better dig around in the shelves and boxes.

Thanks for the info, guys.

Re: Fender Mounting

I replaced the inner and outer fenders on my '64 Fenderside last year and there was a some black sealer or antisqueak material between the inner and outer fenders that ran along the entire length of the joint where these two parts bolt together.

Re: Fender Mounting

Aero: The horns on this truck were not a matched pair. One works one doesn't. Can you tell me anything about what I should have if going back to original?

Re: Fender Mounting

Based on the images posted earlier there was only one horn on the radiator support for '63 models. Was the same true for '64? Does GMC differ from Chevy? My wiring harness has two plugs

Re: Fender Mounting

Thanks, Andice....I figure once I get everything fitted I will put some seam sealer in there and then bolt it all up.

Re: Fender Mounting

I have pulled numerous '60-'66 Chevy/GMC trucks apart and never saw any material between the inner & outer fender, however, it make a lot of sense to put some there, since it is metal-to-metal.
