Speedometer Needle broke off

While cleaning up my gauges, I broke of the needle on the speedometer. Is there any way to repair this? or do I have to buy a new one?

Re: Speedometer Needle broke off

If only the needle is lost or broken, it is easy to replace. The hard part might be to find a speedo repair shop that has one and will sell it to you. If the shaft is damaged, then it might be cheaper to replace the whole head.

Re: Speedometer Needle broke off

I was afraid of that. The shaft snapped, so it looks like I'm in the market for a new speedo.

Re: Speedometer Needle broke off

well, this just happened to me ... super glue wont work. and a quick check of the web ... a speedometer head is not something thats sold regularly?? My Lmc catalouge has a new speedo listed.. but not the head.. and i'd rather not spend a hundred dollars on a new speedo.. anyone point me in the right direction here. junk yard is not really an option .. these trucks just don't exist in michigan .. thanks

Re: Speedometer Needle broke off

Every GM truck made for five years pretty much had the same same speedo. They made MILLIONS of them. If you don't want to pony up for a new replacement, I can hardly think of a more common and available used part...

Now if you were looking for the rear seat shoulder belts out of a Canadian-only Pontiac 2+2 convertible with a blue interior, that'd be different. But we're talking about a speedo here: more trucks had them than had lighters!

All my witty banter aside, I don't have a spare. But I do have four spare clusters including rally gauges and a speed warning setup for a '69 Pontiac 2+2 Canadian-only car, so if you break the needle in one of those....
