Project BBWW (95 Impala Wagon)

A few months ago I started looking for a 94-96 caprice wagon for a driver/roadtrip car

Found a 95 that had fresh white paint, impala wheels, grille, all the crap shaved lowered and the interior started to refinish.

Got a decent deal on it as all the exterior trim and interior was torn out.

The three rows of seats where recovered in black leather which really didn't match up with the stock blue color.... So 4 orders to Eastwood for SEM Vinyl Dye some new ACC carpet and got to work on putting the interior back together.

interior torn out

should be fun

insulation down, used self adhesive foil foam rolls from home depot as trying to budget this thing.

Re: Project BBWW (95 Impala Wagon)

got the carpet in and bolted the front seats back in. The Seats are a stock bench cut in two and some out of the top. Previous owner did it, I kind of like it reminds me of a 64 SS bucket (almost)

started to tackle the headliner this week.....

no small feat has their been a longer headliner?

Took forever but got all the foam off using a wire brush and a nylon wheel on my drill.....

That's how it is for now, Couldn't find anywhere local that had headliner material so I just ordered some. Waiting on another order of SEM vinyl dye and going to start putting all the interior back together and putting the speakers/ head unit in.

Re: Project BBWW (95 Impala Wagon)

Thanks man. First car I really drove a lot of was a 94 caprice 9c1 so I just always have loved them.

Got a lot more done on the interior done today rear seats belts and side panels in. Painted even more interior pieces. Insulted rear cargo area and laid the wagon area carpet out.

One thing I have learned is since I didn't dissemble the interior I should have test fit everything before painting it as there is a damn lot of panels in this huge wagon and it can get confusing which leads to scratches. Live and learn

Think I can get it close to done by the end of the week depending on how busy work is.....

That interior looks like an interesting puzzle to assemble. Nice looking ride on the outside. Should be a sweet looking ride once you finish the interior.

Re: Project BBWW (95 Impala Wagon)

I like it.

Believe it or not, my High School driver's ed cars were a 96 Intrepid and a 95ish Caprice Wagon. Some of the girls were terrified to drive the beast. It wasn't all that fun to parallel park either.

Re: Project BBWW (95 Impala Wagon)

I screwed this one all up on the updates! Interior is about 99% done and looks sweet! I took it on a couple road trips and man I love this car! Then the opti spark went out haha the ac delco units are $$$$ and I hear all the aftermarket ones are POS's so saving up for one......

Opti-spark is the LT1's weak link for sure...

But running or not, we want interior pics

Re: Project BBWW (95 Impala Wagon)

Yeah it is and while I am replacing it I might as well replace the water pump, wires, delete the mechanical fan...... adds up quick!

Just realized I never took any good interior pics. I need to redo the headliner the spray adhesive i got wasn't very good and I didn't give it enough time to set before installing. Oh I also installed a Z28 160MPH analog speedo with tach to replace the digital one that didn't work. Clear needles add a nice touch

Here are some more pics of the car

At the end of my driveway. life is good!

rear an inch lower you will see why in next picture

Not as fun as you might think! I do strongman competitions and filled this thing with 300lbs worth of sand and lead shot had to carry it for max distance.. Can see a bit of the interior, headliner still wasn't in

Driving to the competition, Nice about 450 miles round trip it was fun! The thing really sits perfect with that extra inch drop in the back IMO! If anyone has the bottom window trim for the drivers side I'd really appreciate it haha

Just something little, but I would black out the posts between the windows. It will make it look a ton longer and lower.

I never thought of that but yeah your right I think that would look real good! I blacked out all the chrome window trim for the same reason

Thanks for the idea

yeah you could use some high performance vinyl to do it too, go to a sign shop. It will visually make the pillars and the tinted rear windows blend in...looks nice.

Cracking car, man! Along with blacking out the posts, how about sucking in the front bumper? I bet it'd be a ton of work but I think it would smooth the lines a lot and be a totally subtle mod most people wouldn't see.

Yeah that would be cool probably a bit outside my current skill set though. I do have a rear rollpan that came with the car I need to have painted and install. I want to shave the roof rack as well. Thats about it for the outside. Well new lowered shocks so it doesn't bottom out on the hi-way....

thanks!

Thanks! Rare car your looking for! My first car was a 9c1 loved it. I was a big fan of the rubber floor, and bare bones interior.

You dont happen to have the molding that goes o the door at the bottom of the drivers side window? My car had just been painted when I bought it and was apart so that seems to have been lost....

I've had 2 1a2s in my grasp in the last 2 years, and got boned both times by rotten sellers. Someday.

I have lots of parts cars, so im sure i do, shoot me a pic of where it goes, and I'll check in the next couple days for ya.

Thanks
