Wouldn't that make changing a tire just about impossible?

Re: Sweet Chevy C10 Build

Its called an underslung frame. You only really see those on SUVs that need the floor space.
It limits your lift, but who needs lift anyways? As long as you can untuck your tire in the rear, i dont see a problem
Was this thing going to have a watts link or panhard bar? I think those upper bars dont have enough angle at all.

Re: Sweet Chevy C10 Build

Looks like a good start. Depending on the size of your 4-link bars you may need to gusset the uppers.

Re: Sweet Chevy C10 Build

Modified racecar frames are that way also so the rear stays under the car incase of suspension failure

Those upper bars will have gussets! MOST DEFINATELY! Trust those bars have plenty angle on them. I liked this setup its cool because not alot of riders are doing it. THEY CALL THIS SETUP THE "SLUG"

Check out the angle on the upper bars in the post above you. You dont have nearly as much as him. I could have sworn i warned you about this a long time ago. You are going to get rear end sway because of it. Just my .02

Re: Sweet Chevy C10 Build

We did a truck about few months ago using the same measurements not exactly same rear setup and the truck drove pretty good no sway at all. I understand what your saying even if I had to add a Pan Hard bar I will.

Nothing Positive Comes from this forum I swear!!! This wont work that wont work but whats funny is that this does work! I would sound like a hater if I started calling people out here on this forum. If nothing positive can be said then dont say it! Theres alot of stuff on certain peoples builds that I can pick on and those people are the ones commenting on my build.

If you really belive that, you are reading in the wrong places.....but in this medium, things come-off stronger than they would in person.
When someone posts a picture, you generally get it one way or the other, everybody loves it or has negative comments. There is no in-between because people who would have been neutral won't bother to post it.
Some of the "negatives" are actually constructive comments.....If they can be taken that way, rather than being offended.

There is definately a place for innovation/experimentation, but the "tried and true" things exist for a reason...they do work. Now that is not to say that they work at extremes though, that is the point of modification. You do have to maintain the basic parameters, if for no other reason than safety. Thinking too far outside the box gets tricky.

Re: Sweet Chevy C10 Build

Actually you put it right in your post! Obviously its a matter or opinion but I have found that in some peoples posts its more of a drama driven opinion people creating more hipe over something that needs no hipe. Everything is a matter of trial and error yes, but everyone seems to think they have the right and most correct answer for something like custom fabrication which is unique in every way. Yes keeping the safe parameters is reccomended as I said in my previous post if need be I will add a panhard bar. Theres just no need for the back and forth kiddy hipe about this TOPIC that seems to happen all the time. Constructive critics are welcome but I dont appreciate the negative vibes from these posters. Only maybe 1 our of 8 posters said anything positive but when I look at the bottom of the screen to see who is on this page it seems the same people are staring at these images and not saying anything at all positive. HATER says it all! But I didint say that now did I? Well this subject is over with no drama here to those that have something positive to say go ahead if you have good constructive info then hey be my guest we dont all know it all!

I think this is really cool, I have never seen a vehicle with this set-up under it before, I am looking forward to seeing it rolling around.

"Inherited" sounds pretty good to me

Can't wait to see it when you make some more progress. That rear end setup looks wild!
