Cab Lights Pics?

Thinkin about putting cab lights on my 76 K10 but 4wd square bodies w/ cab lights are kinda scarce in my area. Does anyone have any pics of theirs with cab lights? I just dont wanna go drilling holes in my cab just to not like the lights.

Re: Cab Lights Pics?

I definitly think the lights look good, but not sure what would look better, lights in the stock location or make each light an equal distance apart?

Lol.. I shot this pic on Friday driving through Banff Alberta. Its a tour bus that drives tourists right out onto a glacier. Heres another shot that makes my truck look tiny!

As far as the light spacing goes, I prefer the factory spacing of the roof lights. I like the style on my truck, but also like the newer style cab lights on the new body style GM's

Wow that thing is huge, I want one lol.

I prefer the factory spacing on the lights too, and I think the newer style lights would look pretty cool on a square.

Never really looked at the 90's cab lights before, but now that you mention i think they would look really good since the bottom of the lights aren't round.

I like the '88-'98 style myself too. They're a little more square and have a lower profile than the standard sqare body cab lights. My only problem is that the stock lights have the screws on the sides and the newer lights have the screws at the front and back, so I'll have to fill in some holes and drill new holes to convert mine. But, if you're putting lights on a truck that doesn't have them to begin with, no biggie.

Here's one with the newer lights...

As far as spacing, I think I prefer the stock-style spacing with the 3 grouped in the center and the 2 further out on the edges.

Here's another with the newer lights and the proper spacing...

And another...

Re: Cab Lights Pics?

Another option to think about is to look at other lights that aren't necessarily cab clearance lights to begin with. This truck used the clearance lights from the dually flares of a Ford SuperDuty...

They used them on the tailgate too...

Re: Cab Lights Pics?

I also have a steel headboard in mine, but i got the steel trim piece that goes on right at the top of the windshield, so i am going to try to run the wires behind that trim piece.

Re: Cab Lights Pics?

The steel headliner is actually the roof itself. It's double walled and what you're seeing is the inside layer. There's enough room between the two sheets of metal so that you can snake the wire for the cab lights up there and down the insde of the a pillar. There's a hole under the dash where the pin switch for the dome light goes through. You can snake the wire through there and hook it to power. All the lights should be daisy chained off that one power wire. The lights also should be self grounding. Whew I just wrote all of that on my iPhone so please don't mind my spelling...

Re: Cab Lights Pics?

An alternative to mounting the lights directly to the cab is a Lund Moonvisor, like I have on my truck.

I knew that the roof itself was double walled, but i just assumed it would be too difficult to run the wires between the two layers. I will give that idea a try.

Re: Cab Lights Pics?

I don't know how to bring an internal thread forward to this post, or I would have done that for you. Go to the "search" box on the header bar and type in "mounting cab lights" a page will come up, and about half way down you'll see an article (thread) how to install cab lights.
Hope this helps.

Re: Cab Lights Pics?

I bought the ten dollar Harbor Freight Tools cab lights for ten, Blackout Paint for ten, and LEDs for 15. I may still mount them on the actual cab and keep the visor bare.
