Only way it looks remotely ok is if you use a stepside bed.

I have seen 3 or 4 of them, and I agree. The stepside looks better, but it doesn't look good.

I have also seen a few stepsides on 67-72 pickups. Those look pretty good if done well.

I agree with Slonaker... body lines just don't like up with the 73-87 body style... Also no the 67-72, it looks a bit better but the wheel well arches are different.

Re: 73-87 4x4 with a 88-98 bed

It can be done and i believe there is some modification to the bed to make it line up. A roofer i know did this and it looked awful of course he would destroy the beds of the trucks almost as soon as he would bolt them on
. Another guy i know bought an old police utility body and threw on a dually bed on it and there was a space between the cab and bed.
Its great if youre using the truck strictly for a work truck or traash hauler but if you want it to look remotely decent forget the idea

Seen one with an 88-98 step bet on it, looks nice from the side, but funky from the back because the bed looks narrower than the cab.

Re: 73-87 4x4 with a 88-98 bed

Hello everybody,,,new member here and need some info. I have an 80 K10 that i installed fenders, grill and bumper of a 83. finally figured out the small differences but have come up on a biggie. The hoods are different!!!! not a really big problemo but the hinges are. Can somebody that has some info on this please chime in and tell me how they installed the additional hinges? prolly gonna have to do some cutting and welding but need some info. I installed the 2 front hinges and promptly let the hood get away from me and danged near cut my thumb off when it slammed on the fender!!! Thanks for any info,
