vintage air

What do i need to know about the vintage air magnum IV and adapting that to a ls motor? Is it better to order there compressor or to use a factory air compressor. Also Has anyone purchased there vintage air from summit?

That system is too big for our trucks. I used the Gen-II compact system in my truck. I fits behind the dash nicely without too much fab work.

that's just for the core itself....still need the compressor, lines, bulkhead, vents, controller, condenser, drier, etc.etc.etc.

They do offer a compleate kit for our trucks. BOOYA

Ya do have to look around for the price list on their site a bit. but it is the summthin like $1200. and you have to go through one of their certified dealers.

ya i was looking for the magnum IV because its all drive by wire no cables involved. i knew vintage airs website had prices and u had to go through there dealers i just didnt know if there was a place to order it on the net.

Most likely you will be able to use the factory compressor on the 5.3.

Most late model compressors can handle either clutch cycling or constant run systems. Use the proper type and amount of oil for the compressor. The oil may be listed on the comp label, other wise check with a dealer. As for the amount, Vintage Air should have an idea about that.

FYI, I used to test automotive AC compressors. My guess is educated.

When you purchase the Va sure fit kit for your year truck they come 100%complete
and the best thing is it is 100%bolt on.Yes the comp bracket does come with the kit
and the comp has the pulley on it.Like I said earlier shoot us a e-mail we will take care

you can't use the LSx compressor with VA system. They are a variable ratio compressor and when doing retrofits, there is no way to control the output and have to be run full out. If so, they will die an ugly death in short order. AND WILLl VOID any Vintage Air warranty.

There is only one company I know of with adapter brackets to run Sanden 508 compressor on LSx and it is Kwik Performance. All other bracket systems use SD7 compressors, which is ok to use since the front runner system uses them. VA may have recently released a conversion bracket as there was some talk of it on another board the other day

Unless your in a hurry, check with me in about a month or two. I plan on using the magnum IV in my burb' and I should have it up and running again soon. I'm going to try and get down to Summit this weekend to pick up ( if in stock ) the unit so I can begin the mock-up of everything.

I do not believe that all LS compressors are variable. As of 2007, only Denso had a really good variable. The Visteon VS16 was just coming on line and was being built in Hungary. A variable compressor is easy to recognize. There will be a connector point on the body to supply the PWM signal to the control solenoid. There may or may not be an actual clutch. Some just have a drive pulley.
