I just lost 100lbs on the Porterbuilt diet

Well something like that. I'm sure the new Dropmember with tube arms will weigh a lot less. Hey Nate have you ever put them both on a scale to compare? Old vs. New.

Funny, I have always worn my sandals in the garage, check back on my build thread you will see me in them on my roadster build. Plus i have a nice toe tan from welding in them also. I guess when you wear steel toes 10hrs a day its nice to sport some sandals on the weekends.

I'm glad you think my toes are important, I'll be careful

Thanks

Re: I just lost 100lbs on the Porterbuilt diet

Maybe you can find some steel-toed sandals.

The aftermarket crossmembers are the coolest idea. I have one on my 63 GMC that I'm building and it sits the pinch welds about 1/8" off the ground.

Nice! What a great set up. Nate does some fine work and I'll be happy to write the check once I have the $ to back it up. What rack and pinion are you going to use with the drop member?

Mine lays frame but the pinch weld is still about 1/8" off the ground. With the PB x-member and 3" drop spindles you should be able to lay frame on 29.5" tires.

How is your build progressing? Sounds like a great wheel set up. Any idea how a manual rack will perform in our heavy trucks???

Well i hear its not as easy as power but i want to keep it simple and i think a flaming river rack (1503) with the tire size im running should be fine plus my truck is losing weight.

Progress wise im sanding and painting parts getting ready to install, its 103 here today so not interested in going out in the garage.

Looking good and ahaha you must be around the valley somewhere this heat is getting bad. You should weight it all and see how much weight you lose.

I hear ya, got a motor coming from Delaware its 109 F back east, that's too high. We were there last summer, but cold so far.

I had the same thoughts on mine, keep it simple, didn't want the pump. Just curious if a rack eases the turn effort...factory GM stuff really builds muscle. Later.
