Re: Nice looking original Blazer - CL
You guys aren't kidding. I just got back from seeing it today. His ad says "no trades" When I met him at the storage unit in Pomona, I pulled up in my 72 SWB and the first words out of his mouth were "Wanna trade!?" I knew this was a bad sign
We pulled around to the back lot and I saw it in the distance, did not look bad...but when We got to it and I got a closer look, it had a lot of dents...nothing major, but still $$$ bodywork. It is NOT Hugger Orange, it is Med Red. The SPID is in perfect shape and tells the story. The floorboards were mint, as well as the floor and all body mounts. The pass rocker has been replaced (rather good job). It has some minor rust in the rear quarters, but nothing that would bother an east coaster. I do believe the 60K to be original, based on my judgement and not just his word. I also believe the oil and all fluids to be original too It is NOT a maintained truck, but it did run well and did not smoke. The rear interior panels were there, but shot. Seats were ok in front, back seat was like NOS. Tailgate was good, grill was shot, some dents along the sides and at the taillight housings. It has not been registered since 1992, but that did not bother me, as it is off the books. What DID bother me was he had NO paperwork, other than the original title, which was NOT his name And the signature releasing the vehicle was NOT the registered owner, but supposedly the owners daughter who signed it when the old man died and was the Trustee. I have no reason to doubt this, but it creates an enormous amount of red tape at that point. Bottom line: He has NO LEGAL RIGHT TO SELL THIS VEHICLE as it stands. I told him he would need to have it titled in his name in order to sell it to me. I do not think he is a dishonest guy, but I do think he has tried to get the vehicle in his name and knows what the fees are and this is why he is selling. He has had it for sale for a while and I am not suprised. He has called me three times since we have met, and he really wants to trade for my truck. I have made it clear that when he has it titled in his name, we can talk.....lets see what happens.

Nice investigative work leddzepp, the information you provided with your findings will definitely help others. I found the title part very informative.
