I need more power :)
okay I have a general idea about doing this but i thought i would ask, i have a 1987 gmc with the factory tbi and I want to get more power out of it but still be legal (if thats even possible)
As far as I know, since i'm not sure, I have the non vortec heads and I've been told to swap those out for vortecs. how much power would I gain? how difficult is that to do? do i need any special tools? I want to be able to do it in my garage and use refurbished parts i suppose. unless ya'll say otherwise I would like to get 50 or more ponies out of it but still keep it looking stock under the hood to appease the inspectors.... |

Re: I need more power :)
www.tbichips.com can help out quite a bit. He's also got links on various pages to other places that offer superchargers for tbi trucks. www.tbi-superchargers.com
Check'em out

Re: I need more power :)
you could gain a good 30 horsepower from vortec headshttp://www.summitracing.com/parts/NAL-12558060/(read the discription at the bottem) but they require a differnt manifold that what you have stock. you will also need self aligining rocker arms but then you could go to roller rockers and pick up more power. and add a set of headers and a new chip custom built for the set up and you should have a good bit over 50 horse power.
