Rear end

I want to start looking for a rear end for my C10 69.
I've seen in this forum how to convert an 73-87 but I want to know if can I do with an 88 and new. One member in the forum did it?

Re: Rear end

It can be done... but why? the 12 bolt is a stronger rear, still plenty of aftermarket support... no reason to swap it out IMO.

Re: Rear end

Coil or leaf?

Found out the previous owner put an 88 in my '70 coil when I replaced the wheel cylinders.

His welding doesn't look the greatest, but I could take a few photos if that's the set-up your looking for.

Re: Rear end

You can use any leaf spring rear if you weld the mounts for the trailing arms and panhard bar onto it. I believe there are kits for this which give you new mounts and a longer panhard bar.

Re: Rear end

I've been looking into rear end info lately, Jegs sells direct replacement axles for around $200 a pair. Cheaper than another rear end, and you might make a couple bucks back on your 6 lug axles.
