04 chevy tahoe rear axle on 67 1/2 ton coil

ok my idea is to get a 03 to 06 chevy tahoe rear axle with disc brakes added on stock cut the leaf mounts weld coil mounts on cut shock mounts cause coil has the shock mounts on bottom of trailing arms so what i wanna know is the axle tube fatter or skinnier then 67 72 stock and from wheel to wheel is it longer or shorter or the same in advance thanks

I'm not sure about the axle tube OD but the late model rear is definitely wider than the 67 12-bolt housing.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

tahoes have a 4 link with coils, not leaves. I'm not sure what the axle tube O.D. or overall width is but I could measure mine tomorrow. I had also pondered this but I wanted to adapt the tahoe 4 link onto my truck so I could get rid of the leaf setup.

you don't need to "add" disc brakes....they were factory equipment after 2000. use the front disc system too and you will have modern (factory) 4 wheel disc with 6 lugs....you could hide them under stock or retro wheels ofr the stealth look. and the wider rear axle will look awesome since gm trucks always have a narrower track width on the back than on the front

I did a quick guestimate of the width hub to hub on my silverado and it looks to be 68-69 inches, which is significantly wider than my 67. You also have to remember the 99+ trucks run rims that have a ton of offset, to have a wider, more stable track width.
