Best Year 1967 -1972 Suburban
Is there a public consensus on a best year between 1967 and 1972 per say?
Is it 1972 because of all the options available? Is it 1967 because of the body style? Who has a biased opinion? Last edited by bullington; 06-16-2010 at 07:24 PM. |

Re: Best Year 1967 -1972 Suburban
1967 was not the first year - 1935 was.
67/68's I prefer because if the body style.

Re: Best Year 1967 -1972 Suburban
i like the 67....slant nose and lack of side lenses....looks killer on a hot rod pickup. but on a burb i really like the 71-72 best. my dad had a 72 when i was a kid and the more upright hood and blue bow-tie "floating" in the egg crate grill just looks best to me. now...if i could have 2.....i'd take a 67/68. also, you can't beat having all the better tech and options that were at the pinnacle in 72.

I like the front grills on 69-70 Chevy Burbs, so that's my choice.

Our Suburban is a '72, but I would love to have a '67 to haul our '67 shortie around....

Re: Best Year 1967 -1972 Suburban
Never been a big fan of the 67-68! I apreciate their sleeker style but it just isn't for me. Personally I like the 71-72 grill. It is by far my favorite. Right now I have a 72' blazer project, and a 72' suburban; and someday would like to get a 72' swb fleet Cheyenne. So no matter what it is if it is a 67-72 chevy truck my vote is for 72' as the best year.
An old pic of my 72' Suburban. Custom Deluxe, 402 big block truck.

Re: Best Year 1967 -1972 Suburban
all i gotta say is back then they were lucky to have a third door 66 and below has 2 doors so what im really sayin is back then they had to live with hardly any options so if you like the outside apearence of 67 or 68 then have a 67 68 if you cant live without the options then get your welder and cut it out and then reweld it if that doesnt solve it then un bolt it and bolt what you want on it

Re: Best Year 1967 -1972 Suburban
I am partial to the 69 - 70 models as I like their grills best. 71 and 72 have the advantage of factory disc brakes. Actually, I like the 63 Burbs about best. Two door, shorter and really great lines. I am going to get one one of these years.

Re: Best Year 1967 -1972 Suburban
I like all years - '67-72. The '72 has disc up front... big difference for me, and the rear air looks clean. (interior roof line looks cleaner). I ended up with a '72 because it had all the options I was looking for - really lucked out (3/4, 4x4, front/rear air, tach, tilt, GMC, am/fm, rear barn doors. And, it's got a 454 in it and I wanted a big block. But I would have been just as happy if a '67, 8, or 9 had come my way too. I appreciate them all.
