Disc Brake Question.

Will 73 to 87 upper and lower ball joints fit into 70 model control arms. If so could I buy 73 spindles, rotors,calipers,bearings,outer tie rods,and tie rod adapter from CPP to give me disc brakes on my 70? Or is there an easier and cheaper way.

Vanceman, I am contemplating doing the same thing on my truck, I think what you are trying to do would work exactly as you have it stated. might be able to save a few $$$$ and junkyard the spindles and local source the rotors and bearings etc may save you a few bucks that way instead of buying the kit

I have been doing some research and I think this will really work and save me some money. I just can't see paying $800 for this. I hope someone will chime in that has done this. Any help, tips, or advice will be greatly appreciated.

They will work in the older control arms.

You will have to address the outer tie rods.

The 73+ outer tie rods will be required.
The problem is they are larger and the wrong thread direction.
You need a tie rod adapter sleeve to connect the 11/16" 73+ outer to a 67-70 inner.
(It's only 5/8" diameter and the wrong thread)
To cure this,... you need to use a 67-70 outer tie rod as an "inner" tie rod.
I did all of this on my '69.
Get the "conversion" tie rod adapter sleeves from www.performanceonline.com.

Unless you really enjoy greasing the stock control arm bushings, I would suggest taking the control arms and shafts from the donor truck also. These have rubber bushings and are maintenance-free. If the 73-up bushings ever do require replacement, they cost a lot less than the 72-earlier type.

Has anybody bought a disc brake conversion from POL, they seem to be cheaper then the others. If so how the quality of parts?

Is it just possible to take the center link and avoid the whole issue with the tie rod ends all together? And just change the pitman arm on the box? Just a thought and a curiosity on my part as well for my swap

Take the 73-87 center link and all the tie rods, would definitely be a better/cheaper route.

You will be ok at the box, but you need to take the idler arm too.
