Funny you asked that I would have to say Scotts Hotrods Ifs we make them
here in our shop located Oxnard ca.What you should do is compare on the
quality of parts they are making and to the quality we make ours with and the customer service we offer. As you can see it has taken along time for
anybody to comment on this first post.

I would say one thing with the support we offer here on this site and the
deals we have for the members here.It will be hard to find a better built
ifs and a better priced than ours if you compare quality on either.

Any questions please e-mail me at justin@scottshotrods.com

Re: Helix IFS

Another opinion on the Helix brand - waaay overpriced and there is not enough info to set them apart from any other IFS.

OK. I am new to this forum. I don't know why folks didn't comment on the Helix posting...However, I did go to the Scotts site and am intriged....but I didn't see a link to the IFS that I need which is for a 55 chevy (2nd gen)....Do you have a tailored crossmember and IFS and what does it cost?

Re: Helix IFS

I have been meaning to post to you but had misplaced my password.
This spring I was at a car show and talked to the helix guys and they had a pretty good price on what I wanted. I was going to go the next day and order one and medically I wasn't able to attend the car show the next day. I phoned their order line and explained and was told to call back when the guy from the show was there. I called back 4 times and every time I was told I will look into it and get back to you. Never a call. Then emailed what should be higher up in the company and said it looks like your people are not doing their job and I want to buy and front end for the show price. Never a word or reply. I had cash in my hand and ready to buy and they wouldn't even talk to me. Their show price was about the same as they later advertised on the internet as a special. So my impression is their customer service sucks and if they treat you that way before they get your money, how would it be after they got your money. Anyhow it turned out good for me as I decided to go my original plan and get a Sids dropped axle.

Re: Helix IFS

I checked out the Helix stuff at the Portland Roadster show a few months ago and while it is pretty nice looking pieces I did think the prices were a bit high. I did pick up one of their catalogs at the time for future reference but it appears to be more directed to vendors who might sell the product rather then retail customers.

The only thing I have read or heard against them is that they tend to be difficult to get support out of. Meaning that calls and emails don't always get answered. They are part of Hoffmangroup which seems to be a marketing or holding company. That makes it a long reach to get your grubby grabbers around someone's neck when something goes wrong.

Scott is here to and does push his products but I'll say this, he has his neck right there for his customers to get their grabbers around and the feedback on his products and service is top rate. That said, I tend to like to deal with venders who use and know their products and if they build them themselves so much the better.
Buying something for my truck from someone who is part of a holding company through someone who is sitting in a cubical and has no direct connection or interest in the product has little or no appeal. You not only pay for the product you pay for the service that you should be able to receive.

Re: Helix IFS

I'll tell you all. Since responding to this thread I have gotten alot of info to include Scotts representative. Scotts has a great reputation and a super product. Chizzler your pictures are super and convincing. I will go with Scotts when/if I do this....except I am leaning towards keeping the straight axle now....nostaglia only....droping it 3 inches with power steering added.........still back and forth though.....if sormeone has picturs of a dropped, disc brake straight axle I am/would be interested.

Keep in mind we do offer a Scotts Standard ifs that comes with adjustable
coil-overs that will drop the truck down 3 inches and you will have disc brakes
and power rack and pinion this will be a huge difference over a dropped axle.
