Project I did it again

Well I just got back from handing over the cash for another truck I don't really need, have space for, didn't plan on buying, etc... It was too good to pass up. You know how that goes.
It is a 67 longbed fleet with 250, 3 on the tree and not much else. It has 67,000 original miles is pretty much untouched, and has been sitting since 89. It has very little rust and is straight with the original paint and interior.
The plan right now is to get it running ,brakes new tires with truck rally's and drive it. I'm having some heart issues so I need to sell all of my projects and just cruise for now. In the future I would like to convert it to a short bed, bags, and paint it anything but green. That wont be anytime soon though. I'm excited I haven't had a 67-72 in a while.

Re: Project I did it again

I went this morning and pulled it out of the woods. I swapped the wheels and tires. Then got it running somewhat. First the ignition switch was bad so I went and got one. I got it to turn over but had no fire. The points were so corroded they were stuck together. Sooooo I went on another trip to the parts store, got the points in and found a matchbook in the cab to set them. That was convenient. I sprayed the carb and it tried to start. Pulled the top of the carb off, filled it up with gas. The truck started and ran good. Then it died. Now I need to figure out if the fuel line is stopped up, or if the pump is bad. I started trying to bleed the brakes but it wasn't working well by myself.

Thanks, It's amazing how much a set of decent tires will improve the looks of a truck. I like the 6 also it's a great engine.

Re: Project I did it again

Thanks for the comments guys.
I messed with the truck a little more tonight. The fuel pump is bad. If I ever get it to the shop where I can work in the shade things will move a long faster. I don't think there are any tow truck drivers in this city that want to work. The closest dolly or trailer I can find to rent is almost to DC. Luckily the guy I got it from is cool but I don't want to leave it there much longer.
For your viewing pleasure since I don't have any new pics of this one, are my 71 and the 68 I drove to HS. I'm thinking of painting the 67 white with a red top minus the TP. That's not the best pic but in person it looked really good. It was a CST with buddy buckets.

Re: Project I did it again

I finally got the truck somewhere I can work on it. I got the carb and fuel lines cleaned out back to the tank. The fuel pump is off now and I'm waiting for the new one to show up. I planed to do more but a storm was starting. I'll be back at it tomorrow.

Re: Project I did it again

It moves under its own power.I am going to have to dip the carb though, I cant get it to idle. I took the bed liner out and hosed off some of the dirt. I hate bed liners there was a lot of rust under it. So far I only saw one hole. I don't think it's as bad as it looks. I put it on the lift and started checking it over. I'll take some more pics tomorrow. I only had my phone with me. Check out my redneck fuel cell on the hood. I got that from a 79 Mustang this kid drove from SWVA to Richmond. That was in the trunk with a rubber hose running through a rust hole in the floor hanging loose all the way to the front of the car. It also had a chain wrapped around the engine for a motor mount among other things lol. It didn't pass Inspection.

Re: Project I did it again

Ive made a little progress. This heat is kickin muh a@# so it's going slow. It's taking 3 times as long to do anything because I have to stop so much. I have the front brakes done. New cylinders, shoes, hoses, and hardware. The rear is next. and I need to get a gas tank. I took some pics of the underside it is in nice shape the only hole I see in the floor is a small spot under the sill plate and the front cab supports have a couple small spots. the rest looks solid.

Re: Project I did it again

I didn't get any work done this week, but did get some parts. I picked up a gas tank and gauge cluster from VA72C10. This morning I went on a road trip to NC and brought back a very nice 72 short bed chassis I bought from Dasani.

"In the future I would like to convert it to a short bed, bags, and paint it anything but green"

Or you could do something different and just leave it as it is.

Thanks for your opinion. I probably could leave it alone, and if I find a nice cab with a title for the short bed frame I will.
There is nothing rare about this truck so I wont have one regret building it into something I will be happy with. I have already decided not to go with bags is that different enough? It will look like a stock lowered truck with more power. Other than the color, I have no plans to do any mods that couldn't be reversed easily.

Good score on the 5 lug frame. If I find a truck with a good cab w/title, I'll let you know I have my shaved cab ready to go on my next project....and it's got a title already...

Yep I'm very pleased with the frame, it looks better in person than the pics. I think he said it came from out west somewhere.

If you find a nice cab I will definitely be interested, A/C is a plus.

Don't you know someone that does cheap sand blasting ? I want to get the frame cleaned up and painted so I can put it away until I'm ready for it.

[QUOTE=67chevy1series;4105889]hey does your truck have the passenger sun visor[/QUOTE

It doesn't have a passenger visor. The side trim is the only extra.
