LMC window cranks

I broke one of my original window cranks today...snapped right in two while rolling up the window...

So now I have to replace it. what is the quality of the LMC cranks? are they comparable to stock? I feel like for $4.95 each they'd be pretty cruddy...

Re: LMC window cranks

The cranks you'll buy from LMC are exactly the same repro's you can buy at Autozone, Pepboys, Oreilly's and Advance. Trust me, I bought the LMC ones and I thought I'd be getting an exact repro but I got the cheap store brand.. So save yourself on shipping.

Re: LMC window cranks

20 years ago I worked in a service station. I installed ONE and only one of those cheap re-pops on a customer car. He came back the next day with the splines all stripped out in the middle.

Go to any swap meet and purchase one or two cranks. Just about everybody at the swap has a box full of them. A little elbow grease to clean them up and you'll be good to go.

If you need it now, look at some of the guys on the parts board. I bet they got boxes of them. Don't buy a non GM crank.

I got some from Wes at Classic Heartbeat. They look like the ones they replaced.

Re: LMC window cranks

The LMC ones do no hold up I have striped two in the last year! Definately make sure the windws are relatievly free moving. The GM ones have a better spline inside that engages better. Not sure of the regulator on my truck. PO might have changed it out to aftermarket but the splines on the regulator are tapered on the end, so it does not have full spline engagement with the LMC Handles!

It was OK... There was a LOT of stuff, but most of it was for older cars. I was also able to get a repop front fender upper side molding for $15 new...that was pretty good, and i thought i had a set of dog dish caps all lined up, but they were for a 1/2 ton. There were three truck parts vendors there, but they didnt have as much stuff as i would have liked.

The show was good as always. LOTS of really great pre 64 cars and trucks.

Re: LMC window cranks

on my truck the knobs fell off after only 35 years of use. I made new ones from 5/16 bolts and nuts.
