Rear bumper brackets for my 1966 GMC... do they exist?

Well, my truck is a '66 GMC. It was originally a one ton but the frame has been shortened and now sports a short fleet box. I bought a rear bumper and bracket kit for a '66 but the brackets don't work. Just wondering if anyone knows whether brackets exist for this truck or am I going to be fabbing my own? I've included some pics of my right rear frame rail.

There would have been an extension going back. it would have gone inside of the frame rails. see where those rivets are missing from the back of your spring hangers. those were probably where it was attached if it had one.On my 4 x 4 panel it has such an extension and the frame rails attach to the bumper the same way as the front bumper does, right off the end of the frame rail and a brkt to the outside. if you need a picture I can take one for you, but you will need the longer box to accomodate the ext

Looks as if they took the ends of the frame off to make it shorter than takeing it out of the middle. Your prob going to have to fab up your own outer part of the bumber brackets and the inner braket might just work.

it won't have been cut very much, perhaps an inch or 2. mine runs about 5" behind the rear spring hanger, but my rear spring hanger is not flared out like that one. it stops quite abrubtly after the sprig

The hangers , springs etc are from an 86. If im not mistaken that frame is narrower than the half tons so you'll have to throw your fabricator hat on for this one dave. Matt

p.s if you wanna match that thing up a bit better you can get endura epoxy primer for the box , if you give em the paint code off the cab they can match is in a medium gloss epoxy for ya

Thanks Matt, I figured I`d be fabbing brackets after seeing the ones I bought at Scotts wouldn`t work in the least.
I actually found some paint at Home Depot in a rattle can that matches close. Should be good enough for a summer or two.
