Installing 5th wheel hitch in K30
I've been looking around both here and on the internet and I can't find any information on putting a 5th wheel in the bed of my '85 K30. Yeah, there's plenty of stuff out there for newer trucks but they all have bracket kits etc. I've never seen a bracket kit for a square body so how do I install the rail? Do I just bolt them to the bed or is there an underbed system? Thanks for any help and pics you can provide for me.

It bolts to the frame under the bed. I will need one too for my crew cab project.

Chevy's are a pain to put fithwheel hitch rails in. In a ford they bolt right into the bed bolts. You will have to drill your own holes through your frame rails. We just put one in my Dad's truck.

Re: Installing 5th wheel hitch in K30
If you go down to any store that installs hitches there are "L" brackets you will need. They bolt to the outside of the frame and against the bottom of the bed. Then you drill a whole thru the bed and mount to the "L" bracket". On my K30 for two holes it mounted to the frame but I had to install a spacer so the bed would not collapse against the frame.
i've done two old chevys and its no big deal.
