Gauges!!!!

I'm thinking about replacing the factory gauges in my 69 GMC with something with ACCURACY!! Is there something available the fits in place of the stock gauges??? If anyone has pics of their setup, please post them and the details of what brand you used!!
Thanks!

Re: Gauges!!!!

Are factory tachs available that go higher than 5000rpm? Can factory tachs be re-calibrated to go to..... say 10,000rpm?

Re: Gauges!!!!

Here's a crappy cell phone pic of what I did. The gauges are from Classic Instruments. The panel is a glove box door that I cut the back out of, drilled some holes and mounted the gauges in. I welded two 1/4" bolts on the back side of the mount panel that lined up with the stock head light switch and wiper switch holes in the dash. Made for a pretty clean installation. You could use the light and wiper switches in the stock locations to hold it in place if you wanted. I used toggle switches in lieu of the stock head light switch and also wired in a rheostat to control the gauge light brightness. I sourced the indicator lights for turn signals and hi-beams from Delcity (delcity.net). I'm real happy with it, when my Jimmy is done I'll probably have had the panel painted to match the dash or chrome plated.

I did zero modifications to the stock dash. When I had this in my 71 half ton, I used the original wiring harness with spade connectors or wire taps where appropriate. Now that I'm in the process of getting my half ton ready to sell, I don't have to clean up any hacked wiring. I re-did all the wiring in my Jimmy with a late style universal system so I wired the dash directly to the new harness.

Here's my set up which I have not installed yet. This is guages and panel from Dolphin Guages. They have a web site and also an E-bay store. $390.00 for the lot.

Trz1000,
I love the creativity, very nice guage panel.
