resurrection

So I figure after a 5 year timeout in the driveway, it might be time to get the ride back on the road. I've got a very limited budget for the time being ($500) on which to cover whatever it is that will need to be done to get my fuel system back in order. I had a long talk with Chris Friday night which I think may have solved 1/2 my problem. After that I'll have to retread & get my windows rolling again. Oh yeah, and a battery.

1987 TBI with a fresh (less than 100 mile, more than 5 yr old) engine. Poly cell in the rear between the rails with an exterior Delco pump (no idea if it's still good). Some rewiring & plumbing will be needed.

Here's some pics from better days;

And some depressing pics from Friday night;

Re: resurrection

Thanks Rollinsqrbdy. Just working on the parts list now to see what I can accomplish.

-fuel line to TBI (Thanks Captkaos)
-battery
-tires (P225/60R16 & 255/50R16)
-new deck plate for the bed
-wiring from firewall to fuel pump
-fuel pump?
Not sure if the pump I have now works. Problem with doing all this so long ago is I've forgotten what I learned then. I don't have a sending unit & I'm running an external fuel pump. Maybe that's part of my problem? Chris said Strret & Performance uses the internal pump & sending unit inside the poly tanks. Might switch to that if I can.

I know the parts list will magnify as I get into the repairs. Any suggestions on the above would be more than welcome.

Re: resurrection

What do you mean by deck plate for the bed? Might be something I have here you can make work if I knew exactly what you were talking about.

Re: resurrection

Randy,
I have a boat deck plate in the bed floor like this;

that I open to gain access to the fuel cell cap. The one in there now is black (and cracked), I used weatherstripping in the corrugation of the bed along with copious black silicone. Ideally I could use something metal & welded into the bed floor like Jeff did.

Re: resurrection

Ahhh, gotcha. I was thinking you needed a piece of bed floor or the rear sill or something. About all I can offer is an extra factory fuel door or two.

Re: resurrection

I appreciate it, but I've got two of those myself that I'm not using.
