Rear camaro sway bars on our trucks...

Searchin the faqs and stumbled across an faq for rear sway bars..

My buddy is parting out, or WAS parting out a camaro. The 1st article confused me. Will a rear swaybar WORK or NOTWORK with a lowered truck? And also, my buds camaro isnt an iroc. Should I still bother getting the swaybar offa it? Thanks! And is this a good swap? Thanks!!!!

Re: Rear camaro sway bars on our trucks...

I did the swap a few years ago. My truck is lowered 4 inches plus 1/2 inch block (if I remember correctly) Anyway I dont drive my truck too hard but I think it was worth it. It was a pretty simple swap/install. I ran my exhaust above the axle so things are pretty tight. I went on the Hot Rod power tour a couple weeks ago between all the stuff I dont normally carry including a buddy and our stuff. I also had a few tools and a spare in the back I ended up taking it off on about day 2 I didnt have enough clearance. I kept hitting my exhaust and broke a hanger. I replaced the hanger and didnt want to have any more trouble on this 2700 mile trip. Even on the highway it seemed more stable with the bar but it may all just be in my head. I will do some modifications and reinstall it.
Good luck
Dave

Re: Rear camaro sway bars on our trucks...

I have a rear sway bar on mine with airbags with no problems. My exhaust dumps in front of the rear axle though. I can't really say how it drives compared to no bar since I never drove the truck without it.

Re: Rear camaro sway bars on our trucks...

just to add, I had mine on for 3 or 4 years with no problems just this last time I had slightly rerouted my exhaust and the added weight and rough roads got me somewhat. a few minor tweaks and it will be good as it gets. I followed the same external link you did.
These trucks are light on the rear as you know some people think it wont matter to have the bar one the back because of this but I liked it.
