question on core support
ok so the core support on my 72 is kinda rotted out from the battery tray and washington weather. so i have a core support from the abortion of a truck that i called the 80 and was wondering if that would be a direct bolt in or would there be some modification that i would have to do to get it to fit? the current core support is going to be coming out for the tpi conversion anyway, and if i can use the square body core support i may as well use it since it's in better shape

Re: question on core support
Two completely different animals...
On the left... 69-72 Chevy, on the right 73-80 Chevy. Gary

Re: question on core support
its a safe bet that nothing on a square body will fit our trucks... body wise.
You can MAKE some of the stuff fit, but it's kinda like a square peg in a round hole kinda thing. |

Re: question on core support
you might b able to salvage your old original one by using the later one to cut patch panels from and make the original a sturdy more usable piece than it is now

Re: question on core support
That's kinda what I did on my 1972 GMC. Pulled the core support out and cut all the rot out, fabbed up new metal, and welded it back together. Then bought an aftermarket inner fender, cuz the old one was just as rotten as the core support.
To mount the front of the inner fender to the core support. I drilled 3/8" holes through the lip of the fabbed up part to match the holes in the inner fender. Then welded nuts on the core support for new bolts with washers to go through the bottom. Gary
