i know you will be disapointed, but was for the best..

Well, here lately, luck hadnt been going so well, first, rear end went out in th 87, fixed it, then trans started slippin, 3-4, and then a break in, they didnt get anything, but DESTROYED my interior, well, as the 87 was my only means of transportation, being broke, and jobless due to quitting after finishing school to find a real job, i was in a major bind, well, comes alon a fellow, who was absolutey in LOVE with my 87, offered some help, he'd trade me his truck for mine, well, at first, it was a He** no, i did to much to mine, and loved my 87, thought it still needed brakes, bushings, springs, trans, and tons of little thing here and there, well, he kept bugging, sweetening the pot, so i took a look at his truck, and after you see this, i dont think you'll be as dissapointed the 87 is gone..
it is an 82 SWB silverado, new pant (not the best ever, but hey, what did i go to school for? ) the interior is CLEAN (ye, i got to keep my billet) and the engine..well, i think if the texas dust would stay off, could eat off of it, the motor is a 383, with a little over 20k on it, bigmuthathumpr cam, edelbrock aluminum heads, edelbrock air-gap intake, full roller valve-train and gear driven timing, new battery, new alternator, water pump, the works, the suspenson is all NEW, new bushings brakes lines master cylinder, i mean, who ever built the truck, took the time, and spent alot of cash (kid i got it from paid 9000 at a dealer ship) and i have receipts for alot of the stuff done, the trans is a th350 with a 2500 stall, rear end is a 12 bolt posi with 4:11 gears and the truck runs AMAZING, and hey, i also got to keep my 20's, and a little cash on the side, what do you guys think? i kno i spent alot of time on the body of my truck, but hey, i can do that again..

Re: i know you will be disapointed, but was for the best..

Eand soveryone knows I'm no crook! He did have detailed info of my truck, looked at it, tested, but he was so in love with the body, cause it had, what he wanted, plus he has his own business, and a DD, so I know its in good hands, and he will finish it

Re: i know you will be disapointed, but was for the best..

Sorry it came down to getting rid of the 87 but the new truck doesn't look bad at all. It has that simple quality to it. Not a bad deal funk.

Re: i know you will be disapointed, but was for the best..

It all works out in the end. That 87' of yours was nice. I recently had a guy that wanted to do a swap on my shortie for a 76' K5 in need of motor and body work. Although I have been looking for another K5 for a frame swap, I still have that short bed sitting in my garage

true, I think you did just fine. If you went to school to be a bodyman you can do all that work again and then some in due time. Nice upgrade!

Nothin' wrong with getting something "new". These are just trucks. And short of getting rid of a family heirloom, there isn't much reason not to try something new.

Re: i know you will be disapointed, but was for the best..

thanks guys! i as afraid i'd hear alot of, why????? but hey, its a square too! and the truck is extremly solid! plus, i love the original look, i did the custom to mine, to show what i could do, but originally wanted to build a super clean original truck, luckily the other day i bought a set of rallies, caps, and rings for 60 bucks at the flea market! so i will throw them on it and see how it looks! the clear is a little dry also, and not sure how muh is on there, and had a tone of silver and green left from the previous build, so im going to do an original two tone with silver in middle, with a lime green thick pinstripe like the originally had!

I like the idea of keeping is near stock with the paint. That original blue/silver will look awesome with some rallyes.

Re: i know you will be disapointed, but was for the best..

Sorry to hear about trading the 87, but like others have said the new one looks like a real good truck too.

My uncle enjoys building cars and trucks more than owning them. Everything he has is always for sale. He's always on the search for the next thing. Nothing wrong with it. You wouldn't have sold it if you weren't ready for it to go. Keep us updated man!

My Dad did the same thing John, always buying->fixing up->selling->upgrading. Only lost money on one vehicle in a lifetime of doing it.
