Will i gain any tire width by going from a 8in rim to a 10in rim with a 275/60r15

No... regardless of rim size... the tire tread width should stay the same. Unless you are going to a wider tire than before.

Re: 15x10 vs. 15x8
The "60" and the "70" are not the tread width... that is the side wall height (which is a percentage of the tire width). The width is the "275". You need to go to a "295" or larger size tire.

I'd like to find a wider and taller tire than the 275/60/15 that's on my truck. I want to stay with the same rim because I've got a nice set of cragers on it but I'd like a wider and taller tire to help when I drive my truck on the highway. Bfg used to make a 285/70/15 but as far as I can find they no longer make it. If anyone knows of a tire in this size I would love to hear about it.

Re: 15x10 vs. 15x8
Putting say a 275/60 on an 8" rim will give what I believe is called a "section width" of say 10". Put the same tire on a 10" rim will give a wider section width by a couple of inches but the tread width remains the same. The wider rim just moves the sidewalls out a bit more is all giving the look of more tire.
