Bumper Bracket Fitment
I have a '72. Can anyone tell me which years are interchangable for bumper brackets? There are a couple of '81's in the junkyard. Will those fit my '72?

Re: Bumper Bracket Fitment
front or rear (sport or step), I doubt they'd fit. I had to order a new set for the rear of my 72 and then found out there are two different types.

Re: Bumper Bracket Fitment
with bumper brackets, sometimes you can just find anything that looks close, and bolt them to the bumper loosely at first, and then just drill a new hole(s) in the frame to line them up exactly where you want. If you're on a budget this does work, and lets you save a few bucks for items you can see. just my $.02, and I know it's not the best way...

Re: Bumper Bracket Fitment
71 72 front are the same for 2wd Chev. Remembering that the 4x4 front bumper brackets are unique for 71-72 4x4 Chev.
GMC front brackets are different than the 71-72 chev. You could use 67-72 on a GMC 2wd and from a 67-70 2wd Chev. Also 4x4 unique with that interchange. The 4x4 brackets are recessed in the area that would come close to the front axle spring bracket hanger. |
