Junkyarding

One of the things I do for fun is going to the junkyard. i didn't know where to put this, so i figured i would put it here. I visited three yards the other day and this is some of what I found in them:

sweet pics! I'd love to have that 69-70 grill. I need to look around here at the old yards to see if I could find anything

Re: Junkyarding

And this was another about 20 minutes from the other two:

Lancia Appia Vignale - Look it up!

This yard just recently crushed almost all of their vintage stuff. The area in the first pictures used to be all old stuff. There was a 66 Impala SS, Cosworth Vega, 64, 65, 65, 69 442's, couple other olds, 67 GS400, old 5 window, and a bunch of 67-72 trucks and a suburban. I have pictures somewhere. Most were beat and rusty, a few could be restored, or a couple could be made into one

The one on the pile was trash. the one on the truck wasn't bad. The 67/68 one was ok, but had a rot spot on the top left, and two holes near the bottom of the face. Most of the sheet metal wasn't good.

the one on the truck is the one I was thinking about.

If I recall it was a Drag car, and has a cage in it. I have older pictures of it somewhere I can see if I can dig up

Re: Junkyarding

The first and last might, but not 100% sure. I know I have seen a whole 86 442 get sold out of the first, and was told with the old stuff in the second they might sell some of them.

Re: Junkyarding

Went to my local yard today and swung up in their Big Truck Section. Got a ton of pictures. This yard I can go pull parts each week if someone sees something they have to have. I can see it from where I work :-D

There are more uploading. I will update this as they finish...

Re: Junkyarding

Do you know what the deal is with that Fedex Sprinter? Is it being scrapped too?

Re: Junkyarding

Flat Nose Chevy Vans... This Orange one isn't one, is it?

And yes, the Sprinter is there to pull parts off of. Might be able to get the whole thing, but I doubt it. may have been more than one there as well, can't remember.

Do you know if that sprinter said FedEx Express or Fedx Ground on it? Purple and orange or purple and green?

Good stuff! I used to go to a yard down the road from my house as a kid. Loved walkin around and imagining all the possibilities. Those Lancia Appia Vignale's are cool!

Re: Junkyarding

Not yet, but I plan to pull all the good ones. The yellow bucket has a later syle tear drop ones put over the round holes in the roof.

and yes, the 54 made me sad too.

Re: Junkyarding

Ok, here are some of the pictures from the General population at my local yard:

Doors and fenders are gone, hood is there. V8 3 spd on the tree.

454 with auto trans $800

Very Clean Cab for the year

Yes, this went in complete. Pretty sure this is where the 454 came from.
