Rear speaker install
Is it worth installing some 6x9 speakers in the corner of my cab behind my seat? Anyone else do this? I was debating doing this but I don't want to go through all the hassle of getting the speakers and making a mount if they are going to sound like trash because of where they sit.

Re: Rear speaker install
No reason to make a mount when a board members makes and sells his own... will get link in just a sec.

Re: Rear speaker install
Why? Mine don't cost that much more, are made better, won't take up any space behind the seat, and don't look like crap.
Thanks for the compliments fellas!

Re: Rear speaker install
corner brackets as well, did some fabbing to them as my 4 1/8 magnet infinity kappas no fit so well, but the plastic i used cracked before they even had a speaker on them, so going to have to re-engineer them again, but i like them no complaints.

Re: Rear speaker install
$63 shipped to your door if you live in the lower 48.
Not ripping on anyone installs, just saying if you are going to spend the $$ on carpeted boxes, why not spend a few more bucks and have a cleaner looking and better functioning install? But I am bias. 100 plus sets sold, zero complaints.

Re: Rear speaker install
I put bigblocks boxes in early this week. Sound SO much better and they are completely out of the way and look great.
Put some $35 Kenwood 6x9's I got on ebay in mine along with some $9 pioneer 4" speakers in the dash corners. Sounds great for not much $$$. |

Re: Rear speaker install
Yo!
More surface area with 2 6.5" speakers than a single 6x9", so I mounted four 6.5" three ways: They sound fantastic! Todd.

You can't go wrong with Jeff's (BigBlock73) speaker brackets.
I had mine powder coated. here's a few pics of the install:

Re: Rear speaker install
As far as them sounding good, they'll sound fine. BUT, (I know most will disagree), I am not a fan of rear staging in a vehicle, unless it is used for rear fill for a surround sound set up for video use. I have run live sound for many years, and had my own recording studio for 5 years and well their just aren't many times that music is engineered to have rear fill speakers. All sound staging is recorded to come from the front as it would at live performance, it's more natural. I usually add more front speakers and take the rears out. It's less confusing musically.

Re: Rear speaker install
I say if you have the funds go for the corner prefabbed big block sells. I have a set with some kicker 6x9s and top mounted
tweeters. I love them I have had those carpeted boxes sound way to punchy. I put some pillow stuffing behind mine to slow down the air from bouncing off the back of the cab. Made a difference. Just my 2cents
