1948 Chevy Truck - frame build up
well, yet another AD Truck coming through the shop. this one is a real deal 48. lots of neat differences on the older trucks. the complete truck is about rust free, however we will be focusing on the frame build only, for now. the goal is to build a very clean frame using a mustang II front end and 4-link rear on air bags.
keep your eyes on this one for updates. parts have been ordered and expected to arrive next week, in the mean time i striped the frame and its scheduled to get blasted on Monday. till then... stock frame: body removed and in transit for storage: frame stripped and all unnecessary brackets removed: awaiting sandblasting: |

Re: 1948 Chevy Truck - frame build up
yesterday we picked up the frame from the sandblaster, it came out great. very minimal pitting. coincidentally that afternoon i received 6 boxes from California! needless to say i could not resist starting the work on the frame, so we gave it a light self etching primer coat to protect it from the many finger prints and Florida humidity. later that night we boxed in the front of the frame installed the cross-member and top hats. going to finish welding a few things today on it and notch the frame for the rack and pinion.
there were 5 AD trucks present at my shop last night, in all different stages from my daily, to a bone stocker, the finished GMC, the s-10 subframed one and this bare frame. |

Re: 1948 Chevy Truck - frame build up
the green is a concoction my friend came up with. its got some candy and a couple different flakes in it.
so last night the focus was on getting the rear end under the frame and still having the frame flat out. so my pal started off by triming the leaf brackets off the rear end and i worked on notching the frame so the rear end fits under it with tires and all. this frame is going to be smoothed out and nice looking so we are smoothing out some welds before body working the frame... running boards still flat on the floor |

completed the triangulated 4-link last week but forgot to post pics of it. also got the metal to fully box the frame and ordered sbc mounts and trans mount along with frame power brake system. i am hoping that soon the fabrication work will be done on this frame...
