What model 5 speed are you considering using?
I've done 2 conversions useing the T-5 from an S-10 but i've never changed over to a 3500 or 4500.

Iam not even sure yet. Guess I shoulda asked that to. it just an idea I had. Will the T5 hold up to the 350? And where did the shifter come out in frount of the seat. I have a 5 sd out of 84 camaro but the shifter is to far to the rear. I don't want bucket seats.

Re: 3sp to 5sp trany swap help

If the 93 is a 1/2 ton, the transmission is most likely a NV3500. It will bolt to your block and the pilot and clutch spline are the same as your 3 speed. The bad news: It will require hydraulic clutch linkage and it has an electric speedo drive. All of this is fixable, but it is not a bolt-in swap.

A T-5 is a much easier swap because you can keep your stock bellhousing, but it is not a very strong transmission. If you do decide on a T-5 it should be from a 92 or earlier S-10. The bolt pattern changed in 93 and the later transmissions will not bolt to your bellhousing. I have been running a T-5 behind a 305 for several years now and I have had no problems, but I drive it like I own it.

The shifters on both the NV3500 and the S-10 T-5 will clear your bench seat.
