Autocrossed my 67 lwb
So I finally got my truck on the track sunday and it was a blast. I was the fastest truck there. (also the only truck). They almost didnt let me run because they usally do not allow trucks or suv's because of the rollover hazard. But since my truck is lowered they let me run. I was in a class with a couple of mustangs and a awd subaru so I had no chance. I was just happy that I was not the slowest vehicle there. That was a rabbit. Now I need to get some sticky tires and better brakes so I can chase down some mustangs.
Racing with style bye bye cone

Re: Autocrossed my 67 lwb
The 20" wheels did not help with traction. But I did not brake any thing and the truck still runs great so it was a good day.

Awesome! That is what I want to do with my truck when it is back together. Gonna be real interesting with manual steering.

Re: Autocrossed my 67 lwb
Maybe not.
The first autocrosses I ever watched was back in the mid-60s; & it was "run what ya brung." The guys with the Stingrays thought they were hot poop & just out to kick everybody's butt. And they did a credible job......................until some kid unloaded his go cart from a pick up. He didn't have a whole lot of motor, but he did have a real good power:weight ratio and a VERY low CG.

Re: Autocrossed my 67 lwb
that looks like fun. dont know if many of the trucks on the forum would have made it out under its own power after the first turn.

Re: Autocrossed my 67 lwb
I would like to see more trucks at any motorsport event. I was supprised at how little wear and tear it actually was on my truck. It really didnt even hurt the tires. I wish I had a posi and rear disks and I think with good dot race tires my truck could almost be competitive. And I dont have a lot of motor just a iron headed 350 with a small cam and a 650 cfm carb. It would be worth your time to look up local scca clubs in your area and give it a shot.
