My 1968 GMC 1500 327ci 2wd

I got this truck from my father in law it was purchased by his dad in 72 and his brther had it since 84. It seems like solid truck other than the typical rust in the lower cab. My plan is to make a rod out of it. It has power steering that is disconnected and a tired front suspension. It has leaf sprung rear end so i assume it is more exspensive to lower than coils. He also has a 72 CST that is for sale but i can take what parts i want but not to sure what i should other than the factory tach. It is a 3/4 ton so if anybody has any ideas of what would be a good part to take and use in my 68 let me know. I will keep updates as i slowly rebuild this truck.

& from Roseville Ohio. Looks like you have a very nice lookin GMC plus it comes through the family which makes it a little more special. As far as you questions...stay tune and the answers will soon come.

you can lower the rear 2 inches easily with drop shackles. cpp sells em. might check with some of the vendors here, like mike's bump and grind.

Since the front suspension is "tired", I would go ahead and upgrade to disc brakes while rebuilding everything.

Is the 72 CST a Chevy or GMC? If it's a Chevy, it may have a coil spring rear, which you could change out, which would make it easier and cheaper to lower.

That's a nice looking starter truck for sure. What is the canister next to the master cylinder? Is that an external oil filter?
