What is a fair price for a 72 4x4 SWB?

I'm just asking because I'm considering one. Not soliciting offers to buy or sell one.

What is the ballpark for a 72 4x4 SWB. Let's say moderate run and body issues, but mechanically sound and running.

I've got my eye on one, but I don't know where a good price point is for it.

Again, if this is again the forum rules I'm sorry, but I'm just looking for what would be considered "fair market value" on a vehicle like this so I don't get ripped off.

Obviously price will be based on condition. There are 3 on the for sale board here- a 72 in Boise for $10,500, a 72 in California for $13,500, and a 72 in Kansas (from Nevada) for $7900. I'd like them all!

There have been nice restorers around here for between $2,000.00 to $6,000.00 Depending on condition and model. WES

The one I've got my eye on is rough. The bed is rusted out, the cab floor has been patched, the doors are decent but cut for speakers, the inner fenders are rusted out.

The engine is in great shape and the transmission and 4x4 work fine.

$1500.00 to $2500.00 is all I'd go on it if I were in the market.

That's about where they are on the price. If I can get it for any lower... and can convince my wife to let me get it.... I may have a new toy.

She might be more agreeable if you finished up the one you've got. I imagine she went to the same finishing school my wife did.

You're right. Our wives are sometimes the only thing keeping us truck nuts in check.


I posted an update about my project in the OK forum. The short version is... it hasn't gone at all and I fired my body man.

I've only been married a year. Too soon to pull that one. I've gotta make sure she's locked in first
